200 years ago, the church musician Franz Xaver Gruber composed the melody of „Silent Night“ for the guitar, an instrument considered profane at that time. Additionally, Silent Night was performed for the first time on a guitar instead of a church organ. For our artwork, we are referencing this „Rock ‘n’ Roll“- origin story.
We created a curtain out of 200 hand-made guitar picks, which are a visual reminder of musical score and are in constant movement – like the singing body.

Die Melodie für das Weihnachtslied „Stille Nacht“ wurde vor 200 Jahren (1818) von dem Kirchenmusiker Franz Xaver Gruber für das weltliche Instrument Gitarre komponiert – und, entgegen der damaligen Gepflogenheiten, mit Gitarren- statt Orgelbegleitung uraufgeführt. Diesen „Rock ´n´ Roll“-Moment haben wir sinnlich interpretiert.
Aus 200 handgegossenen Wachs-Plektrons haben wir einen Vorhang angefertigt, der sowohl visuelle Verwandtschaft mit einer Notenschrift aufweist, als auch selbst – wie der singende Körper – in Bewegung ist.
