“The work Export Hits shows images of popular German defense exports: the Leopard 2 tank, the MP5 machine gun, and the submarine type 214, on acacia wood plates. Drebusch has cut images of the weapons in the wood with a laser. The presentation on plates makes them appear like trophies. Wall plates decorate the interiors of homes and convey memories of winnings at competitions and other specific events. Instead of inscriptions and cityscapes, these objects show weapons, paying homage to the local arms industry. Export Hits vividly demonstrates the profit of the economy in conflicts and suggests the complicity of the German federal government.”

Akazienholz, 23 cm Durchmesser

“Die Arbeit ‘Exportschlager‘ zeigt Abbilder der deutschen Waffen- exportschlager Panzer Leopard 2, Maschinengewehr MP5 und das U-Boot Typ 214 auf Akazienholztellern. Drebusch hat das äußere Erscheinungsbild der Waffen mit einem Laser in Holz fräsen lassen. Die Präsentation auf Tellern lässt sie wie Trophäen erscheinen. Wandteller zieren die Innenausstattung von Häusern und vermitteln Erinnerungen an Gewinne bei Wettbewerben und an andere bestimmte Ereignisse. Anstelle von Inschriften und Städtebildern zeigen die Objekte Waffen, die der hiesige Waffenindustrie huldigen. ‘Exportschlager‘ führt plastisch den Profit der Wirtschaft an Konflikten vor und deutet eine Mitschuld der Bundesregierung an.”
