"Inventur: Allan T. Gretzki - the Labelmaker / Property of Vera Drebusch"

Der Künstler Allan T. Gretzki wurde von der Künstlerin und Kuratorin Vera Drebusch eingeladen, für ihre als Ausstellungsraum genutzte Wohnung eine ortsbezogene Arbeit zu entwickeln .Inspiriert von der 48. Simpsons-Episode "Radio Bart" (dt. "Wer anderen einen Brunnen gräbt"), in der Bart Simpson zum Geburtstag einen so genannten Labelmaker geschenkt bekommt, mit dem er alles beschriftet, was ihm in die Quere kommt, wurden auch bei Vera Drebusch alle sichtbaren Gegenstände benannt und mit Prägeband-Etiketten nummeriert. Nach der zeitlich begrenzten Etikettierung, bleibt die Auflistung sämtlicher Gegenstände in abstrakter Schriftform. Vera Drebusch hat auf der Art Cologne eine knappe Woche als tägliche Lecture-Performance die Liste vortragen und sich somit ihren als Material zur Verfügung gestellten Besitz wieder aneignet.

"Inventory: Allan T. Gretzki - The Label Maker / Property of Vera Drebusch"

The artist Allan T. Gretzki has been invited by Vera Drebusch to use her home as a showroom for a site-specific work. For his concept "Inventory: Allan T. Gretzki - The Label Maker / Property of Vera Drebusch" all visible objects in Drebusch's flat were numbered by embossing tape labels. The art project is inspired by the 48th Episode of the Simpsons "Radio Bart". Bart Simpson gets a label maker as a birthday present and labels everything that he comes across. Resembling some of the works of the Young British Artist Michael Landy, all things that are in the property of Vera Drebusch were thus screened, named and numbered. The result is an artistic study of the sum of the things that surround us in our everyday lives. Furthermore, the project integrates one of the theories of Jean Baudrillard's book "The System of Objects".

Allan Gretzki

(*1979 in Siegburg) ist Künstler und Designer. Er wohnt und arbeitet in Köln. Gretzki hat in Aachen Visuelle Kommunikation, und an der KHM (Kunsthochschule für Medien Köln) studiert.
Seine Arbeit ist inspiriert von DIY (Do it yourself), Streetculture, Arte Povera und Land Art. Seit 2000 entwickelt er sein Œuvre ohne Einfluss von der Mainstream Kunstwelt und arbeitet überwiegend autonom.
Gretzki hat an zahlreichen Gruppenausstellungen im In- und Ausland teilgenommen und konnte 2011 mit großem Erfolg seine erste kuratierte Einzelausstellung "Selbstzensur" eröffnen.

Vera Drebusch

(*1986 in Herdecke) hatte 2001 ihre erste eigene (Fotografie-)Ausstellung in der Soester B.A.S.S. Galerie, seitdem organisiert, gestaltet und kuratiert sie Ausstellungen in Dortmund, Bremen, Köln u.a..
Vera Drebusch ist Gründungsmitglied des Ausstellungs-Projekts ZWISCHENZEIT und hat in Dortmund Fotodesign und Kreativwirtschaft und in Bremen Bildhauerei studiert.
Seit 2010 setzt sie ihre Ausbildung an der KHM (Kunsthochschule für Medien Köln) im Bereich Medienkunst fort.
Sie arbeitet als freischaffende Künstlerin, Ausstellungsmacherin und Medienpädagogin in Köln und Düsseldorf.

Allan Gretzki (*1979 in Siegburg) is an artist and designer. He lives and works in Cologne. Gretzki has studied Visual Communication in Aachen, and at the KHM (Academy of Media Arts) in Cologne.
His work is inspired by DIY (Do It Yourself), Street Culture, Arte Povera and Land Art. Since 2000, he developes his oeuvre without influence from the mainstream art world andworks mostly autonomously.
Gretzki has participated in numerous group exhibitions worldwide, andand succesfully inaugurated his first solo exhibition "Selbstzensur" in 2011.

Vera Drebusch (*1986 in Herdecke) presented her first (photography-) exhibition in 2001 at the B.A.S.S. Galerie in Soest. Since then she has organized, designed and curated exhibitions in Dortmund, Bremen, Cologne and other cities. Drebusch is a founding member of the exhibition project ZWISCHENZEIT in Dortmund. She has studied photo design, creative industries and sculpture in Bremen.
Since 2010 she continues her education in the field of media art at the KHM (Academy of Media Arts) in Cologne. Drebusch works as a freelance artist, curator and media pedagogue in Cologne and Düsseldorf.
